Fishing

The 1st weekend of June, Colorado kicks off summer with a free weekend of fishing at the local lakes. Quail Lake provided free fishing poles to all children as well as a quick little "safe fishing" demonstration. After the kids got their poles, they had to go around to four other stations and learn how to tie a knot for the line in, get bobbers, learn lake safety/etiquette, and finally get their bait! Bill and Hayley did all the stations together and were excited when their poles were perfect and ready to go!

We went with Julia and Jeff and found a perfect little spot on the lake that was shaded (and somewhat paved) so we could keep Ainsley out of the sun and bring the stroller close. Bill and Hayley didn't catch any fish (Bill swears it was rigged), but Jeff was caught 3 and Hayley was able to help reel in a fish and see one up close and personal. A little too personal if you ask her...she was a little scared of the flopping rainbow trout, but she loved looking at them in the water a little ways away.
